D&D: The Doom of Ardross
In the second Age of Shaal, the nations of Ardross were continuously at war. Each fought to gain power, prestige and, the most important resource in Arduous, land. For hundreds of years the story remained the same, battle, war, victory and loss, borders changed, peace is reached and an endless cycle.
However, of all the lords of Ardross always sought war more readily than others. Imperator Caliban Vos of Marmo. He was a callous and brutal man, and not a single day of his 230 year rule saw peace for his people. Vos tirelessly sought the great weapon of Kardis, the last schism of Necromancy in order to keep him warriors always fighting. When at least the secrets of the forbidden school were obtained, Vos moved to conquer all of Ardross and to name himself High King. To his aid he brought forth Clerics of Kardis, great wizards and powerful warriors. His most trusted council learned and practiced the ways of the Dark Arts. Their mastery gave them unnaturally long life and great power. With control over the dead, Vos built a horrific force that came to be known as the Necrotyr. Taking the mantle of the Dread Lord Vos, he began to sweep across the nation, beginning with Allania, only destruction in his wake.
With little option, the other nations banded together under the rule of the first High King, Pryderi Son of Pwyll, a warrior of Valis. The war was bloody, and many lives were lost. For the first time in the history of Ardross, the major races came to the aid of man. The dwarves from their great forges, the elves from their forest strongholds. Together, war was waged against the growing power of the Necrotyr.
